Te Karaka Station & Lodge is proud of our level of service, and our creative chefs always prioritise our guests’ safety and enjoyment.
For guests who might suffer from severe medically diagnosed food allergies, our Chefs would go above and beyond to ensure their Trust the Chef Tasting Menu is safe, scrumptious, aesthetic and light on the body. Please do let us know if you or your guests have any severe food allergies when you book with us, and we will take measures to ensure your safety.
Below is a lovely letter from a guest who recently stayed with us, and we got her approval to post here.
My partner is severely Coeliac and very sensitive to gluten. You can imagine how hard it has been for us to eat out, espcially the fear of getting a horrible reaction from accidentally consuming gluten. Before booking our stay, we repeatedly checked with the team about whether they were able to cater to Coeliac. Of course, we understand it’s not easy for commercial places to deep-clean everything for one person, and we do not want to burden the team. The wonderful team patiently reassured us that they can and will look after us, which gave us courage to decide to truly Trust the Chef! You don’t know how glad we were! The wonderful Chefs Stu and Adrian prepared everything gluten-free, even took the effort to double-check with manufacturers about certain ingredients for us. My partner is a quiet man, but he stood up after our main to compliment the Chefs. “This is the best meal I have ever had, and I feel safe enjoying it!” Needless to say, the dessert was also an explosion of flavour, texture and colours!
However, when we learnt that the breakfast for the next morning was going to be continental, we were quite hesitant about it. Again, the wonderful Chefs looked after us. They prepared a separate board of food beforehand to avoid cross-contamination, and pan-toasted the Gluten-Free Toasts for my partner specifically. By the way, the generous breakfast spread was definitely impressive.
Another note, the team even did extra cleaning of the mini-fridge in the room for us so my partner could safely store any snacks, if he didn’t feel safe to eat at the lodge’s restaurant.
The details and thoughtfulness are what make Te Karaka Station & Lodge stand out.
