Reglan Day Trip Idea

From Te Karaka Station & Lodge, our guests can also go a bit future to visit another famous charming surf town- Reglan. It’s about 1hr and 20mins drive exploring the back roads of rural waikato, and it’s been a popular day trip destination for our guests, international and domestic.

Below are some of the highlights that our team would recommend:

Bridal Veil Falls

Walk to the top and down to the base of this spectacular 55 m falls.

Car park to top of falls Time: 10 min one-way

Top of falls to base of falls Time: 10 min one-way

It is an attractive easy walk through native forest following the Pakoka River to the top of the Waireinga/Bridal Veil Falls.

The two viewing platforms at the top of the falls provide spectacular views of the falls and surrounding countryside. From here, the track descends steeply down stairs to a midway viewpoint.

The track continues down more stairs to the bottom view bridge and information shelter where there is a magnificent view directly across the pool and up at the falls.

Check Department of Conservation (DoC)’s website for map information.

Nagrunui Beach and Raglan Surf School

Ngarunui Beach, is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, particularly surfers. Known for its vast stretch of black sand and favourable surfing conditions, the beach attracts people of all skill levels.

Facilities at the beach include ample parking, even accommodating motor homes, and a range of businesses offering surf lessons and equipment rentals. We recommend Raglan Surf School’s a variety of surf lessons for people at different levels.

If surfing is not your thing, the beach is still worth a visit, maybe even with a blanket and some gourmet picnic food from the lodge!
