Walking Tracks at the Station

Te Karaka Lodge sits at the heart of Te Karaka Station, a working beef and lamb farm. With the support of Farm Manager James and his son Matt, we offer 2 walking tracks to our guests to experience the Farm and the happy animals up close.

Follow the yellow poles, and explore the farmland.

You will see the manuka bushes that we planted over 10 years ago, which produce the delicious honey you can find in our tea and coffee station.

You might see the West Coast and the daring blue ocean.

You will walk past our wild orchard at the top of the ridgeline.

You will be greeted by the lovely fantails and kingfishers along the way.

At different times of the year, James has different plans for each of the paddlocks you might walk through. Sometimes you can see the mob of sheep very closely, sometimes the paddock will be filled with summer crops.

Whether you are an early bird who would like to get some fresh air in first thing in the morning, or a trail runner who needs to get some sweat in, or a gentle hiker who likes to take the view in with each breath, or a keen photographer who wants to catch the stunning views and native birds (and some none-native ones), our walking tracks will meet you where you are.

Take a walk with the gorgeous Luisa (@thesilverlining_1970) to experience our lodge and farm walking track firsthand!
